Nolensville Pike stretches from just south of downtown Nashville to, well, Nolensville! Passing through so many diverse areas, this thoroughfare has incredible local gems. Obviously you have our fabulous zoo, the many neat antique shops down in Nolensville, and Prince’s Hot Chicken, but here are a few of my favorite unique places on Nolensville Pike that you might not have heard of.

My husband stumbled upon this local burger joint and started chatting with Max, the owner. He didn’t know quite what to order, so he asked what Max would make for himself. What happened next revolutionized our taste buds forever. The legendary blue cheese burger, made how Max likes it, is one of our go-tos, but honestly, everything there is great. Also, they deliver via Uber Eats if you are craving something yummy on a night in. And don’t miss the baklava.

This is where we get authentic tacos. Also available for delivery (can you see a trend here?), from the horchata to the pastor quesadilla, this place is just solid. And don’t even get me started on the tacos! They are pretty small, so I always get about three. If they send you a green pepper or those purple onions on the side, WARNING they are very spicy, and so are their sauces. This restaurant looks like it used to be an old gas station, which somehow adds to its charm and legitimacy.

I’m still surprised how few people have heard of Plaza Mariachi. It’s like walking into a small hispanic city; it’s just neat. With great community events and free entertainment, it’s a great place to bring the kids or grab a bite and just see what’s happening. It’s also right next door to Taj, which is probably the best Indian food in town, so that’s always awesome.

Casa Azafran is a great nonprofit and a place for events, classes and private meetings. But along with being a cultural hub, it also has an awesome, colorful park for kiddos. Check out their site for different activities- and don’t forget to swing by the Red Bicycle coffee and crepe shop across the street while you are there!

How can we journey down Nolensville Pike without mentioning this Nashville staple? Right next to Art Pancake (which is fantastic for home improvement rentals- protip there), it’s been there for literally forever. With a very knowledgeable staff and a great selection of water critters and reptiles as well as all the things you need to take care of them, The Aquatic Critter just blows other pet stores out of the proverbial water. I have ventured in to browse (always educational), buy a beta fish (RIP Finnegan), and buy fun additions to a friend’s aquarium for a birthday present. It always offers something memorable and interesting.
